I was distracted
After singing and dancing
With Cohen and Rumi
I met Mary Oliver
She asked me
What I plan to do with my one wild and precious life*
Great question
I thought
So I started walking with her
But then she kept stopping to stare
At small flowers and crickets
And asking them the same thing
So I walked on
And met other poets like
Sylvia Plath and Ann Sexton
They didn't say much
At least to me
Before they killed themselves
But their lives said
Go back
Go back
With Cohen and Rumi
To the mystery of life
So here I am
Ready to go deeper
A thousand times deeper
A thousand lines deeper
A thousand songs deeper
And if Leonard Cohen hadn't already said it
I'd say
A thousand kisses deeper**
Which means...
Well...
I have no idea
That's part of the mystery
And I'm new on this path
